The construction of the road tunnel taking Da Nang’s Tran Phu under the busy junction with Le Duan will restart on 6 October.  Work has been suspended for nearly one month to ease travel by locals and visitors during the just-concluded 5th Asian Beach Games.

At a meeting on Monday, the Vice Director of the Municipal Police Department, Colonel Nguyen Van Chinh, asked all relevant local agencies to join efforts to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles during the construction period.

The 1st stage of the project will last for 3 months.  Between 6.00am and 10.00pm a total of 220 police officers, inspectors, militiamen and staff from the project’s construction units will be on duty at a total of 35 checkpoints along 14 local streets near the construction site to regulate the traffic and avoid traffic congestion.

In addition, stronger measures will be taken to deal with traffic congestion in front of nearby schools, any pavement encroachment for the purpose of trade, and the illegal parking of vehicles.

Under the recently-approved plans for traffic management around the construction site, all types of vehicles en route from Son Tra District to Hai Chau District will be banned from using the Han River Bridge during the 1st stage of the project.

Between 6.30am and 9.00am, and between 4.00pm and 7.00pm cars will not be allowed to park along sections of Le Loi, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Chi Thanh, Ly Tu Trong, Quang Trung, Hai Phong, Yen Bai and Phan Dinh Phung.  Meanwhile, over 16-seater vehicles will be banned from using sections of Dong Da, Le Loi, Tran Phu, Quang Trung, Le Duan, Yen Bai, Phan Dinh Phung and Nguyen Chi Thanh.
