Founded in 2003, H2H-F4L has run a cooperation programme with the hospital since 2006, with the active involvement of Prof Heinrich Netz from the Munich Hospital and Dr Le Trong Phi from the University of Hamburg.

Over the past decade, H2H-F4L has donated medical equipment to the city’s hospital, valued at 3 million USD in total, and sent its medical experts to the hospital to conduct technology transfer activities.  Thanks to this, 50,000 people from across the country have been screened for the early detection of cardiac diseases.  Most notably, the lives of around 3,500 children with congenital heart diseases have been saved.

Addressing the ceremony, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung spoke highly of the meaningful bilateral cooperation between the local hospital and H2H-F4L over the past decade.  He also gave high praise to the medical staff of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and Intervention at the hospital for their great efforts towards their unit’s progress.

Vice Chairman Dung also thanked H2H-F4L for its efforts, in conjunction with the city hospital, to save the lives of children with congenital heart diseases in Da Nang, and in the whole of Viet Nam.

To mark the occasion, the H2H-F4L’s President, Mrs Irene Lejeune, personally donated 10,000 USD to the Da Nang General Hospital, and the money will be spent on covering the surgery costs of children with heart complaints.

Also at the event, 1 group and 3 individuals from the hospital received Certificates of Merit from the Municipal People’s Committee Chairman in recognition of their remarkable devotion towards the city’s progress over recent years.  The hospital’s Director also presented souvenir medals to Mrs Lejeune herself and to her organisation.
