On Tuesday, the director of the Da Nang Police Department, Le Van Tam, gave 20 million VND from his department, and municipal People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho presented 30 million VND from the city budget, to the department’s Investigation Committee 042G.

The Committee’s police officers had arrested 24-year-old Mac Van Nhan from Quang Nam Province’s Que Son District on charges of property robbery and rape.

In the early morning of 23 November, Nhan broke into a coffee shop on Cach Mang Thang Tam in Cam Le District.  He then used a knife to slash the younger brother of the coffee shop’s owner on his neck, and the victim fell unconscious.  Next, Nhan raped the woman owner of the coffee shop, and rummaged through her  bag to rob her of over 3 million VND.

According to the offender’s confession, on 18 September he had also stolen property from a woman living in Cam Le District’s Hoa Xuan Urban Area, and he had intentionally caused the victim injury before raping her. 

Chairman Tho praised the Investigation Committee 042G for their great efforts and bravery in arresting the criminal only 5 days after he had committed the serious offence.  The city leader remarked that the local authorities would exert even more effort to deal with all types of crime in the city.
