On Thursday, the Central Airports Authority fined Chinese air passenger Yang Yong 7.5 million VND for stealing property.  In the morning of that day, he was a passenger on flight VN164 which was about to depart from Da Nang to Ha Noi.  He was seen by nearby passengers as he rummaged through a bag belonging to a Vietnamese passenger.

After being alerted, the flight attendants on board reported the case and the Chinese passenger was removed from the aircraft.  He was found to have stolen 2 Sony cameras and 5 million VND in cash.

This type of theft from cabin baggage has been occuring quite regularly in recent months.  On 14 November, 2 Chinese men were similarly caught rummaging and stealing property from the bags of Vietnamese passengers onboard Vietnam Airlines (VNA) flights.
