Construction of drainage and wastewater treatment systems progressing well

The construction of drainage and urban wastewater treatment systems is progressing well in Da Nang’s districts of Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Lien Chieu and Ngu Hanh Son at a total cost of 2.67 million USD. 

Work started on these systems in October 2015, and it is expected to be completed in April 2017.

Currently, construction units are making every effort to complete the construction of rainwater collection systems in the districts of Hai Chau and Thanh Khe ahead of schedule.  In particular, the technical infrastructure of rainwater collection systems will be completed later this month, and the post-construction clean-up will be completed by late next month.  The intention is to ensure traffic order and the local urban landscape in time for the upcoming 2017 Tet Festival.

As part of an ongoing project ensuring the city’s sustainable development, a public bidding was conducted in September for the construction of a 9.4 million USD road tunnel at the intersections of Dien Bien Phu and Nguyen Tri Phuong, and work will start on the tunnel next month. 

Biddings for the deployment of other parts of the project will be conducted next month.  They include the dredging of the lake at the 29 March Park, the upgrading of sluice gates at the Phu Loc River Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the building of a drainage pumping station on Ong Ich Khiem.  In March 2017, biddings for the construction of wastewater collection systems along the My Khe and My An beaches will also be opened.

At Thursday’s meeting, the Head of the municipal People Council’s Board of Urban Affairs, Mr To Van Hung, suggested that more effective measures should be taken to implement site clearance and compensation work in a timely fashion to implement local priority infrastructure investment projects on schedule.  He also proposed that prestigious experts should be invited to give their opinions and ideas about deploying these important projects.
