According to the Da Nang Police Department, there are currently dozens of tourist coaches with foreign registration plates operating in the city, and the majority of them come from Laos.  Traffic violations by these vehicles are increasingly complicated, adversely affecting local traffic safety.

In an attempt to deal with this problem of high concern, a municipal inter-disciplinary inspection team is enhancing the checks and monitoring of these vehicles between 1 and 30 November.

The Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Division of the municipal Police Department, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Luc, said that these tourist coaches usually carry foreign passengers, the majority of whom are from Asian countries.

During the first week of this month, local traffic police officers detected and dealt with 10 violations.  The offending vehicles did not have any relevant documents, including international shipping and travel contracts, permits allowing tourism activities, periodical inspection certificates granted by auto registers, and related papers in Vietnamese according to Viet Nam laws.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Luc said that international passengers onboard the offending tourist coaches were transferred into other vehicles to continue their journeys.

The local police officer also affirmed that the inter-disciplinary inspection team will continue increasing their patrols and checks over the operation of tourist coaches with foreign registration plates in order to ensure local safety and legitimate tourist transport activities.
