Attending the event were Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who once served in Cambodia, students from the Da Nang University of Economics, and military officers from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) who are currently being trained at the school.

During the event, the former volunteer soldiers recalled memories of their stay in Cambodia from 1979 to 1989 when they were helping its people overthrow the genocidal regime of the Khmer Rouge.

The exchange aimed to help the younger generations of the 2 countries to understand more about the Viet Nam-Cambodia diplomatic ties, and the great sacrifices made by Vietnamese soldiers during the war in Cambodia.

Established in May 2016, the Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Association plans to set up its district-level chapters and a Viet Nam-Cambodia Business Club in order to promote 2-way investment attraction and trading activities between Da Nang and Cambodian localities.  This will help to foster the bilateral friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia in the years ahead.
