On Tuesday, the Director of the Da Nang Police Department, Colonel Le Van Tam, presented 15 million VND from the city’s budget, and 5 million VND from his own agency, to the department’s Economic Crime Investigation Division. The ring was led by 33-year-old Nguyen Phuong Toan from Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Phu District, whilst his accomplices were 56-year-old Nguyen Thi Phuong and 26-year-old Tran Thi Thu, both from Da Nang.
According to the indictment from the city’s prosecutors, Phuong and Toan established 4 bogus companies for the purpose of trading in fictitious invoices. They were the Khoa Binh Minh, Tam Khoa Nguyen, Quy Thi Phat, and Nguyen Gia Bao companies. Thu was involved in making tax declarations and reports for these companies. The 3 offenders jointly sold more than 3,000 fictitious invoices for a total of over 100 billion VND, and caused a loss of dozens of billions of VND in tax to the city.
