Anti-salinisation solutions discussed
A seminar took place in Da Nang on 11 and 12 January to find the best anti-salinisation solutions for the city’s water sources.
A discussion taking place at the seminar |
The seminar was part of a programme, funded by the Dutch government and the Vitens Evides International organisation, to help the city’s water supply company enhance its management capacity.
During the 2-day seminar, domestic and foreign experts suggested many anti-salinisation solutions for the city’s water sources. Special attention was paid to ensuring the safety of water exploitation activities at the Cau Do (Red Bridge) Water Supply Plant.
In addition, the discussion focused on the building of more water exploitation plants and a water pipeline system to source water from the An Trach Dam to the Cau Do Water Supply Plant, the Hoa Lien Water Supply Plant, and a salt-water prevention dam on the Cam Le River.
Methods for helping hydropower plants regularly discharge water to push the salinity out of the water were also presented. As a result, some plants upstream of the Vu Gia-Thu Bon River have been asked to discharge water in accordance with the operating procedures of water reservoirs.
The analysis and evaluation of the event will be submitted to the city leaders for consideration to help the city implement a solution and ensure the safety of local water sources.
