The aim of the project is to find the best solutions to ensure the safety of seafood supply chains. The focus will be on tracing the origin of a product, and controlling its production and trade before distribution to customers.
Mr Nguyen Do Tam, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that between 2017 and 2020 local relevant agencies would pay special attention to dealing with unsolved problems relating to food safety and hygiene in order to provide safe seafood for customers.
He added that staff at establishments involved in the production, collection, preliminary treatment, processing and trading activities would be trained about food safety and hygiene, and companies would receive help to promote their brand names and their own special products. Local fishing vessels will be installed with navigation systems.
By 2020, models of safe seafood supply chains will be established across the city. The origin of over 90% of the seafood transported to local markets and fishing wharves will be clearly declared. All local seafood production and trading establishments will meet the city’s food safety and hygiene regulations.
