Statues of historical figures unveiled alongside streets
Ceremonies recently took place to officially unveil statues alongside streets in Ngu Hanh Son District which are named after the corresponding historical figure. The streets are Le Van Hieu and Ho Xuan Huong.

The 4m-high statue of Le Van Hien, who died in 1997, was placed in a flower garden in front of the district’s Administrative Centre on Le Van Hien. He was a former minister of both Labour and Finance, and the former Chairman of the People’s Committee (PC) of Thai Phien City (present-day Da Nang).

The 3.1m high statute of Ho Xuan Huong was placed at the beginning the street named after her. The late poetess Huong, who died in 1822, was dubbed ‘Ba Chua Tho Nom’ (the Queen of Vietnamese Nom Poetry).

Also, a 4m-high sculpture bearing the name Ngu Hanh Son was unveiled at the roundabout junction of Ngu Hanh Son with Nguyen Van Thoai, Ngo Quyen and the eastern approach road to the Tran Thi Ly Bridge.

The placing of the statues was in preparation for the 20th birthday of the district on 23 January.
The Chairwoman of the district’s PC, Ms Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, remarked that the placing of the statues meets aesthetic standards and matches the district’s cultural values.
A further 9 statues will similarly be placed alongside other streets in the district in the near future. These streets are Vo Nguyen Giap, Su Van Hanh, Mai Dang Chon, Huyen Tran Cong Chua, Tran Dai Nghia, Minh Mang, Vo Chi Cong, Nguyen Duy Trinh and Phan Tu.
