The 1st stage of a road tunnel project to take Da Nang’s Tran Phu under the busy junction with Le Duan has already been completed.  Under the 1st stage, the construction of a 40m-long, 7.5m-wide underground tunnel which has a speed limit of 60km/h, had been completed by 31 December 2016.

The news was recently announced by the Director of the city’s Management Board of Traffic Project Investment and Construction, Mr Le Van Lam.

Work is scheduled to start on the 2nd stage of the project on 10 January, with a focus on building its northern approach road, whilst its southern approach road will be built in February.  The project is expected to be completed before 30 April 2017.

As regards traffic management arrangements around the construction site, two-way traffic will be allowed on Le Duan and the Han River Bridge, starting from 10 January.

A section of Tran Phu between its intersections with Quang Trung and Phan Dinh Phung will be closed, but two-way traffic will also be permitted on a section of Bach Dang between its intersections with Quang Trung and Phan Dinh Phung.

Currently, site clearance work for the 2nd stage of the project is now progressing well.
