On Thursday, (the 6th day of the 1st lunar month), government agencies nationwide re-started their normal operations following the one-week Tet break.

An enthusiastic working atmosphere was seen at the Da Nang Administrative Centre on the 1st working day after the holiday.  Government employees who are responsible for receiving the administrative dossiers and returning the results were very eager to re-start work.

The Director of the municipal Department of Home Affairs, Mr Vo Ngoc Dong, said that, on Thursday, many local government agencies held brief post-Tet get-togethers to allow their staff members to extend Tet wishes to one another before beginning work.

Mr Dong remarked that his agency had increased the monitoring of the city’s ‘one-stop-shop’ mechanism in a bid to better handle administrative procedures for local individuals and organisations.

Employees from the Department texted messages, via the hotline of the Da Nang Portal (0511) 1022, to remind public servants in the 56 local wards and communes to strictly obey their agencies’ working disciplines after Tet.

At the headquarters of the People’s Committees (PCs) at district and ward levels, employees who are involved in the ‘one-stop-shop’ administration fulfilled their assigned tasks in a disciplined, serious and responsible manner.

Encouragingly, many local citizens have highly praised these public servants for showing a friendly and polite attitude and behaviour towards them, and handling their administrative procedures in an effective and timely fashion.

At the Thanh Khe District PC headquarters, for instance, the majority of citizens came here to receive new or re-granted police-issued identity (ID) cards.  In particular, an express mail service (EMS), which was jointly launched by the Da Nang Post Office and the municipal Department of Police, was utilised to deliver these cards to recipients both inside and outside the city.

Also on Thursday, the majority of government employees at commune-level administrative agencies returned to work on time after the Tet break.
