The money raised has gone to build new houses for 613 poor families, and to repair a total of 279 downgraded houses for needy households.  In addition, scholarships have been given to 22,279 poor pupils and students, whilst thousands of poor patients have been provided with free medical examinations and medicines.  Also, a total of 7,000 wheelchairs have been donated to disabled people and children with cerebral palsy.

Over the period, the focus has been on ensuring the implementation of local people-to-people exchange activities and expanding bilateral cooperation with foreign non-governmental organisations.

Thanks to these, the UK’s Siloam Christian Ministries and France’s La Goutte d’Eau organisations have become actively involved in granting scholarships for poor local pupils, whilst the USA’s Children of Viet Nam organisation has donated rice and rice soup to reduce the malnutrition rate amongst local children and the elderly.  In addition, the USA’s Giving it Back to Kids non-profit organisation has donated wheelchairs to the disabled and funded a project to take care of, and give financial assistance to, very poor pupils and students from across the city.

In addition, appeals have been made for domestic organisations and businesses to participate in various meaningful programmes to help local poor residents, especially poor and disadvantaged pupils.

As a result, Da Nang’s Nam Viet A company has provided monthly financial assistance of 300,000 VND to each of 25 homeless senior residents, whilst the city’s branch of the Viet Nam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has helped poor families to build new houses and funded medical treatment for some people with life-threatening diseases.  In addition, the Evangelical Church of Da Nang has provided gifts, free medical examinations and medicines to poor local residents.

Thanks to the great efforts made by the Association over the past 2 decades, hundreds of poor families have been lifted out of poverty, whilst thousands of poor pupils have overcome their difficulties and achieved good academic results.
