Therefore, the district authorities have been making greater efforts to create a friendly and civilised tourism environment in the locality to create very beautiful images of their district in the eyes of visitors from both home and abroad.

The Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee, Mr Nguyen Dac Xung, said “The district has recently launched a project to enhance the quality of tourism services and build a safe and friendly tourism environment over the 2016 - 2020 period.  The aim of the project is to attract more visitors and investors to the district, and to develop the tourism sector as one of the district's spearhead economic sectors.”

Vice Chairman Xung remarked that the focus has been on raising public awareness about the important role of tourism services, as well as organising annual training courses on trading culture, communication and sales skills, food safety, and environmental hygiene, and introducing the city’s code of conduct as applicable to the tourism sector.

Also, the ‘smile of tourism’ image has been encouraged at local service establishments, whilst tourist harassment has been banned at local restaurants.  A supervision station has been set up at the northern side of the East Sea Park to ensure the safety of residents, visitors and swimmers.

After the project had been launched, many wards and tourism businesses in the district have effectively implemented the project.  The Phuoc My Ward is a typical example.

The authorities in Phuoc My Ward have made every effort to make Ha Bong street meet the city’s cultural and urban civilisation standards, and develop the district’s ‘tourism culture’ model at hotels and restaurants along Vo Nguyen Giap.

The ward’s People’s Committee Chairman Pham Minh Hung said that over 80 surveillance cameras have been installed both inside and outside trading establishments on Ha Bong, Vo Nguyen Giap, Ho Nghinh and Vo Van Kiet streets.  The families of residential group 2b in the apartment building C1 have donated money to install 2 cameras in their building’s parking area.

Chairman Hung noted that 5 temporary parking areas have been established on vacant land lots on Vo Van Kiet in order to discourage vehicle users from parking on street pavements and the roadway.

Vice Chairman Xung added that the Ha Bong street model would be expanded into other streets such as Ho Nghinh, Pham Van Dong, and Vo Nguyen Giap.
