The accident occurred at 5.30am on a section of the Do Xu Bridge on Cam Mang Thang Tam in Hoa Cuong Nam Ward.
At the time, 44-year-old Le Thai Cuong was driving the bus along Cach Mang Thang Tam, en route from Hai Chau District to Cam Le District.
Whilst the bus was crossing the bridge, the dumper truck, which was being driven by 34-year-old Truong Quoc Toan from Quang Ngai Province and travelling in the same direction, crashed into the rear of the bus.
The collision resulted in the bus plunging into a water-filled ditch under the bridge and it caused damage to the left hand side of the bodywork and broke the front windscreen. Fortunately, there were no passengers on board at the time, but the bus driver and assistant were slightly injured.
