'Accident prevention and safe houses' model launched
The Da Nang Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs recently deployed a project in the city to encourage accident prevention and safe houses for children. The intention is to make parents and childminders more aware of potential dangers inside and around homes, especially those which can cause accidents and injuries to children.
Under the project, local relevant agencies and families will be encouraged to make sure that their private houses, apartment buildings and kindergartens all meet safety requirements. In particular, these premises should have fences, gates, doors, and walls suitable for the children’s height, and non-slip doorways and pathways.
In addition, any lakes and ditches should be fenced, wells should be covered, windows should have protection frameworks, and pets should be prevented from causing danger to children. All home appliances must ensure the safety of users.
This year, 70 families with children in each of the wards and communes across the city will be selected to implement the ‘Accident Prevention and Safe Houses for Children’ model. By 2020, 30% of families with children in the city will have their own house meeting the national criteria for safe homes.
