Secretary Anh urged the city authorities to more effectively deal with the local sewage and rainwater drainage systems which have caused environmental pollution and devastating erosion problems on some beach sections along Hoang Sa, Vo Nguyen Giap, and Truong Sa streets.
He directed that the work must be completed as soon as possible in preparation for the forthcoming tourist season, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2017, and the APEC Economic Leaders' Week.
In addition, Mr Anh underlined the need for the city authorities to replace weak coconut trees along local coastal streets with ornamental palm trees to make the landscapes more beautiful.
The Director of the municipal Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, Mr Le Quang Nam, said that the city’s Water Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company has already deposited over 1,000m3 of extra sand into each of the local erosion areas, and this will be repeated up to 7 times a year.
