According to the Cam Le District authorities, an administrative fine of 6.35 million VND has been imposed on 30-year-old Nguyen Cong Nguyen from Thua Thien-Hue Province for violating Viet Nam’s regulations on culture, sports, tourism and advertising activities.

Nguyen is a tour guide for foreign tourists from the Da Nang-based Viet Nam Overseas Travel Company located on the 7th floor of the ABTEL Tower 3 at 280 and 282 Nguyen Huu Tho in Cam Le District.  The company was granted its business licence on 16 January this year, and its legal representative is now a Chinese national named Li Qing Song.

On 9 March, Nguyen took 3 female and 2 male Chinese tourists to the illegal construction site of a Chinese-style housing complex at 3 Pham Hung in the district’s Hoa Xuan Ward (see our story 13 March).  Although required to by law, he did not carry with him his tourist guide card or the company’s tour schedule whilst performing his tourism service activities.  In addition, he did not possess a labour contract or documents detailing the tasks he was assigned by the travel company.
