More statues honouring historical figures to be placed on streets
A few months ago, some streets in Da Nang’s Ngu Hanh Son District named after historical figures had statues of the person placed along them. The statues aim to honour the national historical figures, who were well-known revolutionary leaders, heroes, martyrs or artistes, as well as to educate the younger generations about the country’s traditional patriotism and local cultural values.

The Head of the district's Culture and Information Office, Mr Tran Van Sinh, remarked, “The statues have been carved by skilful craftsmen from the Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village, and they were all made to the same scale. The cost of the statues is being met by the district’s stone carving establishments”.
He continued, “In the near future, 9 more statues will be placed alongside other streets in the district - Vo Nguyen Giap, Su Van Hanh, Mai Dang Chon, Huyen Tran Cong Chua, Tran Dai Nghia, Minh Mang, Vo Chi Cong, Nguyen Duy Trinh, and Phan Tu”.
In addition to the statues, some stone monuments have also been placed across the city to honour the heroic and glorious revolutionary traditions of the city’s armed forces and local residents. The monuments feature information about local important historical events to help residents easily understand the city’s historical and cultural landmarks”.
For example, in January a stone monument carved with the words ‘The Former Perimeter of the Museum of Cham Sculptures and the Vo Tanh Military Post’ was placed near the junction of Nguyen Van Linh, Tran Phu and Le Dinh Duong. Another, a sign carved with the words ‘Three-wheeled Taxi Station - Con Market’, was erected in front of the existing Vinh Trung Plaza.
