According to the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, there are now a total of 21 vacant land lots at the construction sites of projects which have yet to be developed along local major streets.  These include Pham Van Dong, 2 September, Nguyen Van Linh-Huynh Thuc Khang, Tran Hung Dao-Ngo Quyen-An Do, and an approach road to the Tien Son Bridge.

These streets are on the list of local main routes to be refurbished in preparation for the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Economic Leaders’ Week from 5 to 11 November.

The Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, chaired a meeting on Wednesday to discuss more effective ways to clean up and ensure environmental sanitation at these vacant land lots.

Vice Chairman Tuan asked the owners of the land lots to fence around their land with metal sheeting, 4m away from the inner edge of the pavements, and to plant ‘Co La Gung’ (Axonopus compressus) grass there.

This decorative grass will also be planted on some riverside land lots alongside 2 September street and Tran Hung Dao, thereby creating eye-catching landscapes with clean and airy spaces.

The district-level authorities will be responsible for detecting and dealing with any violations relating to any illegal dumping of debris or construction waste on the vacant land.

Also, the municipal Department of Construction will be in charge of replacing any damaged pavement tiles with new ones in front of these land lots.
