Due to the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon, about 13-15 storms and tropical depressions are forecasted to arrive in the East Sea this year, according to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

Of which, there are about 3 to 4 storms and tropical depressions which will directly affect the land and will be concentrated in the central region.
ENSO, short for El Niño-Southern Oscillation – the combination of El Niño and La Niña, is “a naturally occurring phenomenon that involves periodic fluctuation in sea surface temperature and air pressure in the equatorial Pacific Ocean,” and will complicate forecasts.
