Over 1.46 billion VND donated to Co Tu boy with meningococcal septicaemia
After nearly 2 months of treatment for meningococcal septicaemia, 16-month-old boy Poloong Quoc Quan from the Co Tu ethnic minority group in Quang Nam Province’s Dong Giang District was discharged from the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital on Monday.

On the same day, a representative from the DA NANG Newspaper handed over a further 2 million VND plus a wheelchair to Quan’s parents, all donated by the newspaper’s readers.
According to Quan’s father Poloong Thoi, to date a total of over 1.46 billion VND has been donated to his son by generous donors nationwide. Of this figure, 159 million VND was from readers of the DA NANG Newspaper.
Quan’s parents have already donated 250 million VND from this total to poor patients who are in need of financial assistance to cover their treatment costs at the Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital. The remaining 1.21 billion VND has been put into a bank and it will be used to cover Quan’s living expenses and tuition fees over future years.
