According to a leader of the Viet Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC), the 65km-long section between Da Nang and Quang Nam Province’s Tam Ky City will open to traffic on 2 August, 2 months behind schedule.

Starting from its opening date, VEC will collect road tolls from the drivers of 4-wheeled vehicles. The minimum fee will be 20,000 VND for under 12-seater vehicles, under 2-ton trucks, and public buses, whilst the maximum fee will be 380,000 VND for over 18-ton and 40-foot-long container trucks.
The construction of the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway began in 2013 at a total expected cost of nearly 1.5 billion USD.
Once operational, the 140-km expressway will play an important role in promoting social-economic development, and national defence and security, in the central region. It will also improve international transport links between Laos, Cambodia, and Viet Nam, through the East-West Corridor, to a number of seaports in central Viet Nam.
