Mr My Dung proposed that the fishing villages of An Tan and An Don in Son Tra District, covering a total area of about 15ha, should be kept unchanged.  The focus should be on developing a master plan for refurbishing traffic infrastructure, naming alleys, ensuring environmental sanitation, and promoting fine arts decorations in the 2 fishing villages.  Such preservation work would help to develop the villages into new local attractions, and enhance the living conditions and livelihoods of their residents.

He remarked that An Tan and An Don villages boast the essence of traditional Vietnamese culture, with banyan trees, communal houses, wells, winding roads and multi-hundred-year-old houses.

Vice Chairman Dung highly appreciated My Dung’s suggestions, and he urged the district’s authorities and relevant agencies to jointly develop a project to preserve the 2 coastal villages.  Importance should be paid to re-checking the existing houses and the cultural and historical relic sites in the villages, as well as their distinctive cultural identities and the lifestyles of their villagers.

The city leader also underlined the need to collect constructive opinions from local residents about the project, especially encouraging them to play an important role in promoting the traditional Vietnamese coastal culture.

Hopefully, visitors from both home and abroad will have a chance to experience moments of comfort and relaxation as they learn about the daily lives of local fishermen, and they will be able to enjoy the exciting atmosphere of coastal festivals in these fishing villages.
