On Tuesday, police officers from the Drug Crime Investigation Division (PC47) of the Da Nang Police Department temporarily detained three local young people accused of illegally trafficking drugs.

The suspects are Le Dinh Anh, Tran Van Cong and Tran Phuoc Thi Bich Hien, all 23 years old and from Cam Le District.  Anh and Cong were the main suspects in an investigation into drug-related crime conducted in late April 2017 by the local police.

At 3.50pm on 19 July, Anh and Cong were arrested when they were on route to the intersection of Nguyen Van Linh and Le Dinh Ly streets, and 30 tablets of ecstasy hidden in their clothes were seized.

At the same time, local police officers searched the residence of Anh and his lover, Hien, and seized 821 ecstasy tablets, about 5 grams of methamphetamine, and many other items.

It was reported that Anh had many previous criminal convictions for ‘intentionally causing injury to others’, and ‘illegally trafficking drugs’, whilst Cong had a criminal record also for ‘illegally trafficking drugs’.
