AND testing for finding relatives of unknown martyrs
On Tuesday, a group of technicians from the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour and War Invalids and Social Affairs started to collect biological samples for AND testing from the remains of 343 unknown martyrs. They are being buried at the Hoa Hiep Nam Ward Martyrs’ Cemetery in Lien Chieu District, Da Nang.
The collection of the samples will last a week. The AND testing aims to find genetic relatives of these fallen soldiers.
After the AND testing, the collected samples will be stored at the Department of National Devotees (DOND) under the management of the Ministry.
Mr Nguyen Van Chau from the municipal Department of Labour and War Invalids and Social Affairs highlighted the importance of visits to the DODN by alleged relatives of the martyrs for the AND relationship testing in order to know if they and the deceased are related.
Previously, samples from the remains of 261 martyrs who were repatriated and reburied in the Hoa Khuong Ward Martyrs’ Cemetery in Hoa Vang District had also been taken for testing.
