Environmentally-friendly district model developed
Over recent years, the Lien Chieu District authorities in Da Nang have made every effort to develop their district into an environmentally-friendly locality.

In particular, the ‘environmentally-friendly residential area’ model has been implemented effectively in the district’s Hoa Khanh Nam Ward. After around 6 years of implementing this model, the living environment for local residents has been improved significantly. The residents no longer throw litter at local vacant land lots.
The Hoa Hiep Bac Ward Fatherland Front Committee has launched ‘For Cultural Community and Urban Civilisation’ and ‘Action for the Poor’ programmes in the ward. Appeals have been made amongst local residents to donate money from selling their waste materials to help poor local families and pupils.
The Committee’s Chairman Tran Ly Tuong said that a total of over 200 million VND has been raised from this meaningful activity to help local needy people over the past 2 years.
In addition to the above-mentioned programmes, focus has been on checking and dealing with any environmental violations, and resolving environmental pollution at local vacant land lots.
Since the start of this year, relevant agencies in Hoa Minh Ward have detected and handled numerous violations relating to illegal dumping of debris on the vacant land.
Mr Le Duy Hoa, Head of the district’s Natural Resources and the Environment Office, remarked that in attempting to make Lien Chieu an environmentally-friendly district, top priority is being given to raising public awareness about environmental protection, maintaining the implementation of the ‘Green, Clean and Beautiful Sundays’ movement, and dredging sewers.
