In particular, a total of 70 students from the Da Nang University of Education joined local residents in building 461m of concrete roads in Phuoc Hung Nam Village, Hoa Nhon Commune, Da Nang’s Hoa Vang District.  The volunteers also presented 2,000 notebooks to poor local studious pupils as well as gave 3 community loudspeakers to villagers, and 25 gifts to social policy families.

During the period, students from the city’s University of Economics took part in cleaning up the Ban Than Beach in Quang Nam Province’s Tam Hai Island, refurbishing local martyrs’ cemeteries, as well as building concrete roads and a football pitch for local residents.  In addition, they visited and gave gifts to social policy families, and screened films for the islanders.

Meanwhile, 30 students from the city’s University of Science and Technology became actively involved in providing summer training courses for 40 poor school pupils in Que Trung Commune, Quang Nam Province’s Nong Son District.  The focus was also on building over 110m of concrete roads, cleaning up the environment, and installing new fences around the Que Trung Primary School.

Launched in June, the ‘Day of Love’ programme attracted the voluntary participation of thousands of pupils from primary to senior high schools across Da Nang.

A total of over 20,000 notebooks, more than 25,000 textbooks, 1,500 sets of learning tools, around 300 new blankets and mats, 200 cartons of clothes, and thousands of children toys had been donated by local pupils.

All the donated gifts were given to Cotu ethnic minority pupils living in mountainous communes in Da Nang’s Hoa Vang District and in Quang Nam Province.

According to Mr Ngo Ngoc Hoang Vuong from the municipal Department of Education and Training, the ‘Day of Love’ programme attracted a great deal of attention from local pupils and teachers.  The intention is to educate the participants about kindness and compassion.
