According to the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, Da Nang and elsewhere in the mid-central region is currently experiencing a fierce heat wave due to the influence of low pressure in the west associated with a strong foehn wind in the southwest region.  Daytime temperatures range from 35 to 36.5°C.

The hot spell is predicted to last over the next few days.

On Thursday, the municipal Forest Management Department issued a safety alert about the fire risks over local forest areas.  District and ward-level forest protection and management boards must be on a high alert against possible forest fires due to the prolonged heatwave.

The district-level forest ranger divisions will increase their checks and the monitoring of the burning of dry vegetation in local forest areas.  In addition, stricter penalties will be imposed on anyone who violates the national regulations about forest fire prevention and fire fighting.
