UNICEF funds music room for local disabled children
On Tuesday, representatives from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) handed over a music room to the Da Nang Integrated Education Development Centre. The room exclusively for disabled children is fully equipped with music teaching aids.
The handover is part of UNICEF’s ongoing meaningful project, entitled ‘Growing with Music’, which emphasises on the positive impact of music on the development of life skills and values for children starting from early childhood.
Under the project, well-known music institutions and artistes in the world help the trainees promote their foundational basis that they gain from their early childhood education and other levels with music. The intention is to help them become highly talented pupils. Also, ‘Growing with Music’ pays heed to promoting capacity development of managers, teachers and parents both at national and sub-national levels. The aim is to ensure that development of music programmes and events in school are strengthened. In addition, culturally sensitive and traditional musical expression in the formal school setting, and linked with the music education at all levels, are boosted.
This international organisation has already given a total of 400,000 USD in aid to Ha Noi and Kon Tum Province to implement music education programmes for children with disabilities.
