Over 700 locals participate in 'Making the World Cleaner 2017' campaign
Last Saturday, a total of over 700 of Da Nang’s government officials and employees, along with local residents attended a municipal-level ceremony to launch the ‘Making the World Cleaner 2017’ campaign.
This year’s campaign has been jointly organised by the Hoa Vang District People’s Committee and the municipal Department of Natural Resources and the Environment. The intention was to raise public awareness about environmental protection, with a focus on ensuring environmental sanitation in rural areas, and collecting and recycling waste, plus dealing with environmental violations and the impacts of climate change.
Addressing the event, a leader of the Hoa Vang District People’s Committee said that heed will be paid to addressing environment-related pressing issues, resolving local environmental pollution hotspots, and implementing the ‘National Target Programme on Upgrading New Rural Areas’ in the district.
After the ceremony, the participants became involved in cutting grass, collecting rubbish and nylon bags, and cleaning up debris on the vacant land. They also participated in cleaning up waste hotspots at the foot of the Do (Red) Bridge, along DT605 road and National Highway 1, and in Dong Hoa Village in the district’s Hoa Chau Commune. Also, illegal advertisements on power poles were removed.
