At 6.47am that day, 27-year-old Bui Dinh Linh was reported to become unconscious with broken hands and right leg after a fall into his boat’s winch.  At the time the vessel was fishing about 150 nautical miles north off the Da Nang coast.

After receiving an SOS message from the boat’s captain, the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC) immediately helped the boat’s crew members to contact doctors from the Marine Medicine Institute to ask for first aid instructions.  However, Mr Linh was in a very critical condition with multiple injuries and severe blood loss.  Therefore, the Viet Nam MRCC asked the Da Nand MRCC to send out its rescue ship SAR 412, carrying doctors from the city’s Emergency Centre 115, to help the victim.

At 3.00pm on the same day, SAR 412 arrived at the scene and the patient was transferred to the rescue ship for initial first aid.  At 10.45pm that day, the victim was safely brought back to the mainland for further treatment.
