As of June 2017, a total of over 44 billion VND from the city budget and other financial sources had gone to help a total of 1,430 social policy families build new houses or repair their downgraded ones.
As for next year, 49.1 billion VND in total will be spent on refurbishing 1,252 existing deteriorated houses and building 376 ones for local social policy beneficiaries. Of the total costs, 26.3 billion VND will come from the city budget whilst the remainder will be collected from generous donors.
In addition, gifts worth over 5.6 billion VND in total from the city budget and donations from local businesses will be given to these beneficiaries.
Addressing the event, Deputy Secretary Tri urged relevant local agencies to make even greater efforts to complete the refurbishment and building of between 30% and 40% of the total planned houses for social policy beneficiaries before the Lunar New Year 2018 to help them fully enjoy a warm and happy Tet Festival.
The city leader also highlighted the significance of related units’ monitoring and overseeing on the progress of the refurbishment and construction in order to ensure the high quality and aesthetics of the work.
In particular, local inhabitants should be encouraged to become more actively and enthusiastically engaged in enhancing the living conditions of social policy households residing in their residential areas.
Also, heed will be paid to re-checking local social policy families who are living in degraded houses in order to put them onto the list of beneficiaries in need of help for the near future.
