Changing lifestyle of residents by saving electricity and tap water
On Tuesday, a discussion about the implementation of the ‘Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions through Saving Electricity and Tap Water’ project took place at the Da Nang Riverside Hotel, 30 Tran Hung Dao.
The event was jointly organised by the local University of Science and Technology, the Environment Protection Research Centre (EPRC), and Japan’s Institute for Global Environmental Strategies.
As part of a United Nations-funded environmental programme, the about 100,000 USD project is being implemented by the University’s EPRC from June 2017 until December 2018.
The intention of the project is to change the lifestyle of urban residents through encouraging them to save electricity and tap water consumption in order to boost sustainable consumption and relieve the pressure on the environment.
According to a recent survey of owners of 149 houses and 15 flats in the city, most of them have yet to clearly understand about electrical equipment in their houses, and how to use their dual flush toilets effectively.
Also at the event, discussions focused on effective ways to help local residents know how to use some sanitary equipment in their families such as dual flush toilets, water-saving showers, and front-loading washing machines which use 25% less water than top-loading ones.
