Strengthening tropical depression heads towards East Sea

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), a newly-formed tropical depression near the Philippines is showing signs of strengthening. It is forecast to enter the East Sea tomorrow, carrying heavy rains and rough seas.

At 7.00 pm on Thursday, 9 November, the depression’s position is expected to be at latitude 11°5’N and longitude 125°5’E, in the central region of the Philippines.  It is moving in a west-northwest direction at a velocity of about 20km an hour.

At 7.00 am on Friday, 10 November, the depression’s centre is predicted to be in the East Sea, about 850km southeast of the Hoang Sa Archipelago. 

Today, central coastal localities from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai provinces, including Da Nang, experienced moderate to heavy rain.
