Mr Duy sadly said that, on 14 December, his son was admitted to the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital for treatment for the disease.
Hydrocephalus is one of the most common congenital anomalies affecting the nervous system, occurring with an incidence of 0.3 to 2.5 per 1,000 live births.
To date, a total of over 100 million VND, donated by generous philanthropists, has gone to costly and complex operation for the baby but his health has not improved at all.
The baby’s family is very poor as his parents earn only a little money from doing unstable jobs. The costs of the subsequent medical treatments are expected to be so high that they can not afford them.
The child patient is currently being treated at the hospital’s Neurology Department.
In order to help the ill-fated boy overcome his life-threatening disease, donations can be sent to the Da Nang Newspaper, 6 Tran Phu Street, Da Nang (Phone: 02363812341 and 0905832222) or to his father (Phone: 01657516160).
