The above amount of money was raised from generous donors at home and abroad by the city’s Association for Supporting Poor and Disadvantaged Women and Children.

Furthermore, a total of more than 2,500 poor patients with life-threatening diseases have enjoyed hospital fee exemptions and reductions, totalling over 1 billion VND, which came from public donations through the municipal Association.

New Year gifts, worth around 2 billion VND in total, have already been given by the district-level Associations to poor women and children from across the city.

So far this year, the Care Centre for Needy Children, under the management of the municipal Association, has also appealed for a total of material and financial donations totalling nearly 2 billion VND from domestic and foreign philanthropies.

Next year, focus will be on providing free screening tests for 30,000 poor local people, aged between 1 and 20, for the early detection of congenital heart complaints and giving free surgery to 50 heart-problem children, at a total cost of 1.5 billion VND.

In addition, a total of 2,000 poor cancer patients will access hospital fee exemptions and reductions, totalling 1.2 billion VND.

Also next year, free screening tests for the early detection of breast and cervical cancer will be provided for 2,000 women living in difficult circumstances.

The Association will also present gifts, valued at 500 million VND in total, to 1,000 needy women and children in all.
