According to te Da Nang-based Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre No 2 (MRCC2), the fishing boat suffered engine failure last Saturday, 155 nautical miles off the Cua Lo Beach in Nghe An Province.

Strong waves and high winds prevented crew members from repairing the engine, and a rescue ship from the MRCC2 was sent to help the distressed vessel.

The rescue ship towed the fishing boat and crew to the Da Nang Port yesterday morning after a 17-hour trip through the night.  All crew members were healthy.

This incident marks the second case in 3 days where an MRCC2 ship was called to rescue boats and crew members.

Last Friday, a ship from MRCC2 also rescued 9 fishermen on a fishing boat off the coast of Nghe An Province.

Last month, a crew member on a fishing ship from Binh Dinh was saved after 20 hours when his boat sank off the coast of southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.
