Early Tuesday morning, 26 December, after having entered the southern sea waters off Ca Mau Province, Tembin continued to weaken.

At 7.00am this morning, the centre of the low pressure was in the waters offshore of Ca Mau Province, with its strongest wind speed of 40kph.

It is forecast that in the next 24 hours, the low pressure zone will move mainly westwards, weakening and melting.  This is the latest news on Typhoon Tembin, the 16th storm to affect Viet Nam this year.

The low pressure system is forecast to bring heavy rains along the coast from Binh Dinh to Phu Yen provinces, posing a risk of flash floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, due to the effect of a cold spell combined with wind from the north, from now until the end of Thursday, 28 December, the central provinces, including Da Nang, are likely to experience moderate rains.

Viet Nam Airlines and several other carriers have cancelled or adjusted the schedule of many of their flights to and from areas affected by typhoon Tembin.

The national flag carrier cancelled all flights from 12:40 to 20:30 on 25 December  on the routes between Ha Noi/Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc in the southern province of Kien Giang, and between Ha Noi and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.  Passengers affected by the cancellations will be arranged to fly on the next day.

Meanwhile, the schedule of flights from 15:00 to 23:00 on 25 December were also adjusted according to the latest reports on Tembin, and will be updated frequently on Vietnam Airlines’ website and Facebook.

VASCO also cancelled 16 flights between HCM City and Con Dao from 8:45 to 15:00 on  25 December.

Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air cancelled some flights on Ha Noi-Can Tho, Ha Noi- Phu Quoc, Da Nang-Can Tho-Ha Noi and HCM City-Phu Quoc routes on 25 December.
