Cold snap continues until next Monday
The Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said the central region, including Da Nang, will continue to experience cold temperatures until early next week.
The forecasters also warn of shattered rain spells lashing the mid-central region over the coming days due to the influence of the ongoing intensified cold front from the northern part of Viet Nam.
Low temperatures continue to grip some central localities from Quang Binh to Thua Thien-Hue provinces, with the average temperatures ranging from 13 to 15 degrees Celsius.
Likewise, cold weather is sweeping across some central localities from Da Nang to Quang Ngai Province with the average temperatures hovering at between 17 to 19 degrees Celsius. In particular, a chill is felt mainly at night and during early mornings.
In Da Nang, tomorrow (1 February) until next Monday (5 February), the average temperatures will be predicted to hover at between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius.
The northern part of the East Sea, including the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago, is also experiencing strong winds of level 7 - 8, with gusts of level 10, and heavy rough seas.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the current cold spell is forecast to bring rain and even frost to the northern mountainous area.
The temperatures of the northern delta region are plunging to 11 - 14 degrees Celsius, whilst mountainous areas are bracing for the low temperature of between 8 and 11 degrees Celsius, and in some places even as low as minus 5 degrees Celsius.
In February, the northern region is expected to brace for 4 to 5 cold snaps. In addition, national weather forecasters said there's a chance of light rain when the cold front move into this region in the middle of February, coinciding with the Tet Festival.
