DA NANG Today
Published: January 16, 2018

The National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting has issued an extreme cold weather warning for the North and North Central regions predicted for during the upcoming Tet Festival which will begin on 16 February.  Accordingly, the weather will turn colder than Tet 2017, but not by much.

Temperatures will drop to below 15 degrees Celsius on days just before Tet when there is northeasterly monsoon or enhanced cold air accompanied by rain.

The national forecasters also warn of rainfall lashing the North and North Central Coast regions before, during and after the imminent Tet.

In a similar vein, central regional localities, including Da Nang, are warned to brace for light to moderate rain spells, with each lasting between 5 and 7 days, during the first months of this year, occurring after 2 - 3 day intervals.

La Nina, or the cold phase, will lengthen the 2017 - 2018 stormy season.  Hence, typhoons and tropical low pressures will appear on the East Sea during this month.

However, La Nina won’t last a long time as this phenomenon is likely to decline in April or May 2018.

During the first half of this year, the average temperatures across the country are set to hit approximate the average of many recent years.

In particular, in Da Nang, tomorrow (17 January) until 25 January, the average temperatures will be predicted to hover at between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius.
