Printed in both Vietnamese and English by the Viet Nam Writers’ Association Publishing House last year, the popular book consists of 24 highly interesting writings by different authors, many of whom are renowned Vietnamese writers, poets, architects musicians and painters.

Despite displaying different shades and range of sentiments and experiences, these stories together convey the same meaningful message that the allure of the land and people of Da Nang has always left a deep impression on their authors, thereby stirring up deep feelings inside them.

Amongst the authors, in his story, sculptor Ta Quang Bao, who now lives in Ha Noi, affirmed Da Nang is very attractive to those who want to make time for privacy and enjoy relaxing moments away from the current modern daily hustle and bustle.

Given his immersion in such a young urban area brimful of strong vitality and aspiration for further progress indeed offers a good chance for him to take on a new lease of life!

Another author from Ha Noi, painter Le Thiet Cuong shows his keen interest in the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, which preserves distinctive Vietnamese cultural values.

In Cuong’s point of view, the venue, in fact, serves as a gate dedicated to the juxtaposition of the past, present and future.

In particular, amongst the interesting features at this museum is a large amount of ‘hoa su’( Plumeria alba), which is the national flower of Laos, where it is known under the local name ‘champa’ or ‘dok champa’.

In his remarks, architect Nguyen Thuc Hao, who has won many internationally and nationally prestigious prizes, remarked he is deeply impressed by the good personalities of local residents who are friendly, lovely, straightforward, and especially, optimistic about life.

Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh, the Chairman of the Viet Nam Urban Planning and Development Association, who got involved in developing a master plan for Da Nang’s progress, re-affirmed his strong belief that it will become a smart, green city nationally pioneering in urban development management in the near future.

In a similar vein, architect Hoang Dao Kinh describes Da Nang as ‘an urban area: flower on the East Sea’.

This expert highly hailed that the city is the only Vietnamese locality showing off numerous upstanding changes to its urban face over the past 2 decades, since it was recognised as a centrally-governed city on 1 January 1997.

In particular, in comparison with other localities nationwide, Da Nang has succeeded in controlling its urban architectural space in an effective manner.

Other writings by artistes together vividly reflect the allure of Da Nang which provides an endless source of inspiration for painters, musicians and poets to create arts works, indispensable ‘spiritual food’ in our life!
