Foreign and Vietnamese first responders participate in disaster drill in city

A total of 10 emergency medical teams (EMTs) from ASEAN member countries and Japan joined Vietnamese first responders at an international-level disaster drill at Da Nang’s Hoa Xuan Stadium on Tuesday to test their emergency response plans.

The event aimed to enhance the capacity of coordinating within the ASEAN member countries, and to boost the use of their resources in order to ensure the timely and effective response to widespread natural disasters. |
In a hypothetical situation, a powerful storm wreaked havoc in Da Nang and Quang Nam Province, causing the loss of property. A large number of local residents, including pregnant women, were seriously injured. |
EMTs were immediately sent to an isolated village to help the victims. |
In a nearby area, an EMT from Myanmar giving first aid and emergency treatment for a local resident suffered from suffocation and respiratory failure |
