Over recent years, Da Nang’s heath care sector has gained numerous achievements on the path towards becoming the leading medical research centre in Central Viet Nam and Highlands in the near future.

Over recent years, the medical infrastructure network has been further expanded. The city is now home to 29 public medical establishments under the management of the municipal Department of Heath, 5 centrally-run hospitals, 8 ward/commune-level medical centres, 8 private hospitals, and about 1,500 private clinics.
With regard to cancer treatment, in case of emergency, qualified doctors from Ho Chi Minh City and Thua Thien-Hue Province are usually invited to Da Nang to treat local patients, and this, hence, helps them save time and travel costs.
The city’s health care sector is moving in the right direction, with a focus on training high quality human resources in combination of ceaselessly developing medical infrastructure and equipment.
To date, a total of 10 kidney and 5 marrow transplant cases have been successfully conducted in the locality in an attempt to increase the survival of patients suffering from life-threating diseases.

In particular, the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital has conducted hundreds of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) cases for infertile couples, with an average cost of about 70 million VND per treatment session.
The IVF programme is the first of its kind in Da Nang, and in the central region and highlands as a whole.
The programme has been implemented through a technology transfer made by the Ho Chi Minh City-based Tu Du Hospital.
Infertile married couples who want children can now access modern IVF treatment at the city’s hospital instead of only at large hospitals in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City as in the past.
As part of the landmark project on building Da Nang into an IT-dependent smart city, IT applications in healthcare has been implemented in the locality since last year, with the support from military-run telecoms group Viettel.
Accordingly, smart management systems and electronic health records have been set up at medical centres in Lien Chieu and Ngu Hanh Son districts.
Alongside, the Department of Heath has already submitted specific plans to the municipal government for approval to develop the architecture of IT in the healthcare sector.
Currently, FPT eHospital, a comprehensive hospital management system, are being applied effectively in Son Tra and Cam Le districts’ medical centres.
FPT eHospital, developed by FPT IS GMC, is trusted by 400+ big hospitals and clinics to manage all activities from patient registration to discharge from the facility.
Thanks to this management system, medical specialists can now access medical records, monitor and take inpatient care, as well as generally administer all hospital operations using smart mobile devices.
Local citizens now can arrange appointments with medical establishments across the city for medical examination and treatment, rather than attending in person to book.
Appointments can be registered on the official websites of the medical establishments or by calls to the city’s Public Service Portal with its hotline 0236 1022.
