US officers and Vietnamese artistes performed English and Vietnamese songs accompanied by modern and traditional musical instruments.

The exchange began with the song ‘Welcome to Da Nang’ performed by local singers and dancers to greet the US officers.

Later, the two sides charmed the audience with ‘Hello Viet Nam’ and “Noi Vong Tay Lon” (The Great Circle of Viet Nam) sung in English and Vietnamese, along with many other songs and dances.

Officers of aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain, and missile destroyer USS Wayne E.Meyer are on a trip to Da Nang from 5-9 March. This is the first time an aircraft carrier of the US has visited Viet Nam since the end of the Viet Nam War over four decades ago.

During their 5-day stay in the city, they visited several social welfare centres for the mentally ill, Agent Orange victims, orphans and disadvantaged children.

The US guests also met lecturers of the University of Da Nang to share marine environmental protection measures, visited the fire police division, and exchanged experience in first aid provision and disaster response.
