YU members get actively involved in voluntary activities
Over recent years, Youth Union (YU) organisations across Da Nang have taken part in numerous meaningful charitable programmes and voluntary activities to help needy families in the city and Quang Nam Province.

YU organisation of the C Hospital is a typical example. The hospital’s YU members have become actively involved in providing free medicines and examinations for poor residents in mountainous areas. The intention is to help local people promptly detect their health problems and access suitable medical treatment.
In January, YU members from the hospital, along with those from the Duy Tan University gave free medical examinations, medicines and gifts to 400 people in A-Tieng Commune in Quang Nam Province’s Tay Giang mountainous District. Similar trip was made by members from YU organisations of the hospital and the city’s government agencies to Ta Poo Commune in the province’s Nam Giang mountainous District in early this month. During this trip, a total of 800 local residents were provided with free medical examinations and medicines.
YU organisation of the municipal Department of Health is another example. The organisation’s Secretary Dang Thi Phuong Thao, remarked “Last year, the department’s YU members gave free medical examinations and medicines to 500 people in Laos and a total of around 300 social policy beneficiaries and wounded soldiers in Da Nang’s Hoa Vang District. In addition, free consulting services and medicines were also given to 300 local pupils with eye-relating diseases, and 100 others with oral problems”.
Meanwhile, YU organisation of the municipal Business Block has also become actively involved in doing voluntary works over recent years. In particular, last year the unit helped to repair a downgraded house for a social policy family in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Nhon Commune. In addition, assistance was given to a social beneficiary in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Tien Commune, and 2 others in Thanh Khe District, to build their new houses.
Furthermore, the YU members raised money from generous donors to build a new house for a family severely affected by last year’s storm No 10, in Ha Tinh Provice’s Hy An Disitrict.
Business Block’s YU organisation Secretary Pham Duc Thang, said “Various proactive measures have been made by my organisation to ensure the effective implementation of voluntary activities and social welfare programmes. From now until July, importance will be attached to appealing for generous organisations and businesses to give financial assistance to repair at least 3 houses of very poor local YU members and children. In addition, heed will be paid to installing a sound system at each of 10 cultural houses in Hoa Vang District”.
As for YU organisation of Industrial Parks, this year the focus will be on appealing for businesses and organisations in the city to present scholarships to pupils who are children of workers at local industrial parks.
