Last Saturday, the Da Nang Youth Union (YU) launched a marine environment protection campaign at the Thanh Khe bathing area in Thanh Khe District.

The launch of the event is in active response to the ongoing national environment protection campaign in tourism activities, themed ‘Blue Vietnamese Sea 2018’ in 5 central coastal localities of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Da Nang.
The campaign is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU).
The campaign is also part of a series of events in response to the International Day for Biological Diversity (22 May) and the World Environment Day (5 June).
Over recent days, Da Nang's Youth Union organisations have been actively involved in cleaning up local beaches every week or every month, responding to the ‘Making the World Cleaner’ campaign, and encouraging locals to protect water resources and marine space.
After the launching ceremony, a total of nearly 500 local YU members took part in cleaning up the Thanh Khe beach.
On Sunday, the Son Tra District YU Organisation and the district authorities jointly organised a festive day themed ‘YU Members with Natural Resources and Environmental Protection’.
The event featured knowledge and painting competitions, a fashion show, and games, all relating to natural resources and environmental protection.
To mark the occasion, the Da Nang-based Air Force Division 372 presented 250 Vietnamese flags to fishermen in the district’s Tho Quang Ward in order to encourage them to continue their offshore fishing activities.
