Foreigners honoured for rescuing 2 children in local motel blaze
Certificates of Merit from the Lien Chieu District People’s Committee in Da Nang were presented to 31-year-old Valeria from Russia and 46-year-old Jean Christophe from France for together having rescued 2 children in a recent motel blaze.

The incident occur at round 10.00am on Tuesday at the 3-storey Bao Hoang motel, located at 398 Kinh Duong Vuong Street, Lien Chieu District. No casualties were reported.
At that time, local residents detected smoke rising from the 3rd storey of the motel which was locked from the outside.
Fortunately, Mr Valeria and Mr Jean Christophe bravely rescued 2 children, aged 9 and 6 years old respectively, who were trapped inside the locked house.
These ‘heroes’ were staying at the Lucky Bee homestay, opposite to the Bao Hoang motel, at the time of the blaze.
Twelve firefighters and 2 fire engines were sent to the scene.
By 11.00am on the same day, the blaze had been completely extinguished.
Ms Nguyen Thi Kim, an owner of the Bao Hoang motel, said that it had been closed for renovations since February.
The initial investigation showed that an electrical short circuit on the 3rd storey of the motel had caused the incident.
Also on the same day, leaders of the Lien Chieu District and Hoa Minh Ward authorities visited and expressed their sincere thankfulness to the 2 foreign saviors for their good deeds.
Doctors from the district’s Medical Centre were instructed to carefully examine their health condition after their enthusiastic engagement in the rescue.
