On Tuesday, the Da Nang branch of the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam (BIDV) rewarded 3 groups for their active involvement in arresting foreigners for using high technology to steal money from ATM cards.

The honourees are the Economic Security Office of the Da Nang Police Department, and the Bank’s ATM and Security Guard teams.

Previously, through checking security cameras installed at the bank’s ATM system, the ATM Team had found a foreigner installing skimmers at ATM machines to steal credit card data. Soon after, the team members reported the case to police officers of the Economic Security Office.

The police officers and BIDV employees, then, caught 2 Chinese offenders uninstalling a skimmer which had been installed before. Seized at the scene were a small camera placed at the ATM’s keypad and a chip to copy ATM users’ credit card data.
